The Challenge
G10 Festival van de economie en de filosofie & the arts brings together prominent authors and thinkers to explore philosophical and economic ideas in public. An independent international think tank conference that takes place in the Zuiderkerk in Amsterdam. I help out with editing books before they go into publication, PR, and marketing.
The Approach
Editorial & Intellectual Collaboration
With a master's background in anthropology and philosophy, I worked on audio manuscripts ahead of publication and editing and reviewing final prints at the level of the ideas themselves. I also helped name the book Entanglement – How the World Is Connected, and edited essays by Phillip Goff on pansychism, Slavoj Žižek on truth, Yanis Varoufakis on cloud capital, Riccardo Manzotti on mind exchange, and Thomas Hertog on time.
Programming & Curation
Served as a sparring partner to founder Boudewijn Richel on speaker selection, helping shape who took the stage and how the lineup held together conceptually.
Marketing & PR
Built targeted outreach to university audiences, including marketing emails aimed at students, to widen the festival's reach beyond its existing base.
Event Management
Supported live, on-the-day operations to keep the festival running smoothly.
The Outcome
A festival that could hold serious philosophical and economic discourse without losing sight of its audience — reaching students and new attendees alongside its established intellectual crowd, with editorial standards maintained across the published materials and a lineup shaped by real curatorial input, not just availability.
Why this matters
Most festivals split this work across an academic editor, a marketer, and an event coordinator who never talk to each other. G10 had one person who could sit across the table from a published author discussing philosophy one day, and build a student outreach campaign the next — intellectual credibility and operational execution from the same source.
